How long before my PMU studio shows up higher on Google?▾
It depends on how contested brow and lip searches are in your city. The Salem, NH profile we manage moved microblading from #10 to #1 between May and September 2026, about three and a half months, but no agency can promise a timeline or a position; less competitive categories move sooner, contested ones take longer.
What does permanent makeup SEO cost?▾
Most single-location studios run $1,000 to $2,500 a month (Axel's published Growth band), covering category strategy, technique pages, a review system and reporting. A studio needing only Google Business Profile management sits in the $500 to $1,000 Starter band. Two-location studios scope each profile separately.
Is there a contract, and what happens if I cancel?▾
Scope is set in writing before the engagement starts. If you stop, you keep the plan, the pages and the Google Business Profile structure already built; none of it reverts or locks you out, since the work is built into assets your studio owns.
Do I need to show my license on the website?▾
Florida treats microblading and cosmetic tattooing as tattooing, so a Florida tattoo artist license is required (Fla. Stat. 381.00775), with a narrow exception only for physicians and dentists performing tattooing exclusively for medical or dental purposes (Fla. Stat. 381.00773), so cosmetic PMU by a physician still needs the license. Showing the license number on the site and the Google Business Profile satisfies that transparency and doubles as proof for a hesitant client.
Can you handle reviews without risking an FTC problem?▾
Reviews are requested from every client, not only the ones likely to say yes. The FTC's 16 CFR Part 465, effective October 21, 2024, bans fake and bought reviews; gating isn't named in the rule, but we avoid it anyway. Replies go out on every review, including the critical ones.
Will this help me show up in ChatGPT and AI search, not just Google?▾
The same structure that ranks a technique page in Google, clear entity naming, healed-results proof and dated facts, is what AI assistants extract when they answer a question like microblading vs powder brows. BrightLocal's 2026 survey found AI use for local recommendations jumped from 6% to 45% in a year, so that surface is being built in, not added later.
Can you work with my studio if I am outside Florida?▾
Yes. Axel serves Central Florida in person and businesses anywhere in the US by video call; the two PMU locations in our proof section are in Salem, NH and Wilmington, MA. The regulation details cited on this page are Florida-specific and would be swapped for your state's rules.
Do you work in Portuguese or Spanish?▾
Yes. Aftercare instructions and healed-results captions are written in the client's language, English, Portuguese or Spanish, since healing-stage questions get asked after the appointment as often as before it. Many of Axel's beauty-industry clients are Brazilian-owned, so bilingual intake and review replies are routine, not an add-on.
Which Google Business Profile categories actually fit a PMU studio?▾
Permanent make-up clinic is the direct match, but Eyebrow bar and Make-up artist exist as categories too and are worth testing. In the profiles we track, a brow studio moved from #104 to #74 after adding Eyebrow bar, and another from #24 to #18 after swapping a hair-removal category for it (Localo, Sept 2026).
What do I need to provide to get started?▾
Access to your Google Business Profile, your current photo library including any healed-results shots, a list of your techniques and realistic price ranges, and your license number. If you have none of the healed-results photos yet, that becomes the first thing scheduled.
Do you handle minors and consent copy correctly?▾
Florida bars tattooing, including PMU, under 16 except for medical or dental purposes, and 16 to 17 year olds need a parent present, photo ID and a notarized DOH consent form (Fla. Stat. 381.00787). Site and intake copy are written to reflect that rule rather than imply a lower age applies.
What happens to reviews if a client is unhappy with healed results?▾
Nothing gets hidden. The FTC's 16 CFR Part 465, effective October 21, 2024, bans suppressing negative reviews through unjustified legal threats or intimidation, and a studio that only shows glowing reviews reads as curated regardless. Replies to critical reviews, handled directly by the owner, are part of what the review workflow is built to support.
